Welcome to The Broadway Association
Founded in 1911, the Broadway Association has been one of the moving forces in establishing Times Square as the Entertainment Capital of the World.
Members of the Board of Directors include key executives of the Broadway League, the Times Square Alliance, the Mayor’s Midtown Citizens Committee, The Times Square Advertising Coalition, NYC & Company, The Actors Fund, IATSE, Theatre Development Fund, Inside Broadway, the three major theater companies, the Midtown Community Court, public relations firms, banks, hotels, restaurants, law firms, developers, television stations and publishers.
The Association holds monthly luncheons that act as a forum to address topical issues important to the area. Some recent speakers include: NYC Department of Transportation Commissioner Janette Sadik-Khan, Deputy Mayor for Operations Cas Holloway, Actor, Singer and Musician Brian Stokes Mitchell, Architect and Designer David Rockwell, Director of Fordham University's Theatre Program Matthew Maguire, NYC Department of Parks and Recreation Commissioner Adrian Benepe.
The Association’s Annual Awards Luncheon unites the entire community, bringing members and guests together to exchange ideas and renew friendships. At the 2010 Luncheon, The Actors Fund and Dennis Swanson, Broadway Association Chairman Emeritus, were honored. Some previous honorees include: Time Square Alliance, Midtown Community Court, IATSE, New York City Police Foundation, Mayor’s Office of Film, Theatre and Broadcasting, Theatre Row, Gray Line New York Sightseeing, and Marriott International.
The Broadway Association celebrated its 100th Anniversary at the 2011 Annual Awards Luncheon on May 5th at the New York Marriott Marquis. Dan Lauria and Judith Light, from the hit show LOMBARDI, hosted the event and Tony-award winning singer/actress Christine Ebersole performed. Mayor Michael Bloomberg and former mayors Rudolph Giuliani, David Dinkins and Edward Koch, and Helena Durst of the Durst Organization were the honorees.
The Broadway Association is now gearing up for its 2012 Annual Luncheon on Tuesday May 22, 2012, where we will be honoring Jeffrey R. Gural (Chairman - Newmark Knight Frank), Lee Silver (Shubert Organization) and the Honorable Richard Weinberg (Presiding Judge - Midtown Community Court). We're also honored to have Special Guest Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg deliving brief remarks and a musical performance by the Phantom of the Opera- Broadway's longest-running show.
